Etude House: Silk Scarf Hair Moisture Pack Review

Hi again.  As part of the chane in the schedule of topics, product reviews shall be published every wednesday. I have quite a few products that I want to share with you and am going to start with a hair product from Etude House - Silk Scarf Hair Moisture Pack.







I have gone through a full tub of this product and found it really amazing.

It is meant to restore shine and moisture to your hair and also helps in nourishing it and combating frizziness.

For best results this product should be used in conjunction with Etude House : Silk Scarf Moisture Mist which I shall be reviewing in another post.

Let me talk about this little treasure today.

Here are some close ups of the real tub.  I really like the packaging but I am not in love with the way you have to scoop out the product from the tub. You have to dig into it litterally and it gets under my nails which is a bit annoying.  There are directions in english as well for us who don't understand korean.. mine is still a bit of a mess, even though I can actually read all the characters. The cute bow holding the lid in place makes it look so princessy :)

The product smells really nice and floral, it's not too sweet and is not over powering but leaves the hair smelling awesome even after a good rinse which is a plus.. I love nice smelling hair :)  The consistency is somewhere between runny and creamy, I can't exactly put a finger on it, and is pink :)

As you can see I have gotten through the whole tub! I must say that a little goes a long way and this one tub lasted me over 6 months where I used it once a week. It's effects on my hair were amazing. I could do without trimming my hair for weeks simply by using this.  All the split ends disappear  and my hair looks really healthy and feels really smooth all week long. I tried using it on it's own for the five minutes as directed on the bottom of the tub, but the results weren't amazing so I lengthened the time to half an hour and results were better.  Add to it the moist mist and there you go, hair is completely controlled and I did not need to blow dry it, which is even better to keep it healthier and delay damages to the ends.  I found that by using the hair cap that came with the Hair mask from the same line, I could continue the day's chores without any of the product getting in unwanted places (eyes and such) and the heat that is generated from the scalp helps the product to be better absorbed by the hair.

Pros:

Does exactly what it's meant to do. Restores moisture to the hair, repairs or rather prevents damage to the ends, makes hair look shiny and smoother, smells really nice without being too overpowering, and helps me go by without blowdrying my hair.

Cons:

It needs more than 5 minutes in order to achieve good results, and it is annoying to have to scoop the product with your hands as the product sticks under the nails. A hair cap should come along with the product since it needs to stay on for more than 5 minutes.

The positives by far out do the negatives so I think everyone should get her hands on this product and I shall be repurchasing this item soon.  Currently I am reviewing another hair care product line which I will talk about at a later date, but so far this one product has made it into my essentials list.

Weekly Manicure!

everyone! Sorry for being absent for so long, I keep from one day to another and the posts never write themselves up on their own!  Weekly manicure is back and this week I want to share with you a new product that I got from BornPrettyStore - Gold stickers!

This week's manicure uses the following products:

• BK nail Polish in number 28 which is a very light pastel blue
• Clear top coat by Debby ForPlay 1
• Gold Filigree stickers from Born Pretty Store.

I also have a nailfile there to buff my nails because I had residue of gel nails before I did this manicure!

 I used the flowers to the right. There are two rows which were more than enough for this look!

First and foremost you must clean your nails becuase I find that pastel polishes are very susceptible to showing any small particles on the nails and form mini bubbles. I use a simple wipe down with polish remover and then give them a rinse with cold water.  Applying this particular BK polish is not very easy because the first coat looks aweful as you can see below, but just after two coats the nails look beautiful. I gave them 3 coats to make sure that I have a good coverage.  This particular polish smells of coconunts when it dries off and I can tell by the smell that the polish has dried. I always give it an extra 15 minutes in between coats so as to avoid any dents during application of other ornaments :)  The polish dries in minutes so a few extra won't harm.

After you are satisfied with your colour, it is time to apply these gorgeous stickers. They come in a number of different designs on a transparent sheet, I chose the flowers and the wavy spots.  They are a little delicate and you have to have a pair of tweezers and mini sharp scissors handy.  Pull them gently out and cut the design you want. be carefull as the glue is very sticky and once you place them on your nails it is next to impossible to shift the position.  I decided to put the flowers all over the nails, keeping the half flowers for the corners of the nails and using the full ones depending on the size (as there are two sizes in the same strand) according to the nail size.  I finished off the design by applying the mini dots at the top of the nails.

This is the final look without the top coat.

The last step is very delicate with these stickers because if you are not carefull enough, the gold colour will fade away.  Fill up your topcoat brush with enough polish to cover the entire nail and try to apply it in one single gentle stroke without putting any pressure on the stickers. This will help not shifting the gold colour.  I tried skipping this step after the first nail had a little accident with the colour but I soon found out that even though the stickers are strong enough and stay on for a long time, the gold is dissolved by water and body washes. So try not to skip this step!

The end result is like a damask full of roses on a pale blue background.  It looks very complicated but is rather easy to do and I did get quite a lot of compliments :) People thought that I went to a nail technician and found it a little hard to believe that it was entirely my work!

I kept my nails on for as long as I could and here is the end result after 1 entire week where I did not bother too much to keep my hands away from house chores. Most of the flowers are still really gold!

Pretty impressive right!?! The durability of both stickers and polish is just amazing!  I love BK polishes so much because I can enjoy them for longer without worry to much about them!

Weekly Manicure

Hi Everyone!  Weekly Manicure is back and today I want to talk about one of my recent purchases from a local drug store - Golden Rose Jolly Jewels in 119 or as I describe it 'Carnival Glitters'.  I have already posted the whole haul here.

I had really high hopes for this polish and was so excited to try it out but it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted it so I won't be giving it a lot of praise!

This polish is very loaded with differently coloured glitters, mainly blue, green gold, pink and purple and they also vary in size. It has a transparent base so it can be layered on other colour polishes which is good. It also shines a real lot when hit by the sun or bright spotlights and I love this property very much! I like sparkly things :)

The downside of it is that you need at least 3 very loaded coats to get good coverage and even then, you won't get glitters stuck next to each other, gaps will still show up. To add insult to injury, it really chips fast!! I wore it for a week but every other day I had to retouch the chipping parts. At least, it doesn't give a hint that it has been retouched. It suffers a lot from pen holding (I write a lot at work) and house chores are not at all helpful, especially doing the dishes! But still I had other polishes that stuck for longer. I don't expect a nail polish to last more than 3 days to be honest, especially if you use your hands a lot like I do, but chipping almost instantly isn't exactly good! At least it should last for a weekend, and my weekend starts on saturday afternoon and lasts on Sunday night, so I don't think that I am expecting much am I!?! Glitter polishes usually stick longer to the nail and are a real headache to remove, I can't say that about this one! It is rather easy to remove as well - maybe this is a pro?

I will be trying out the other three polishes that I bought from this range and I hope I get better results, I will keep this one to overlay on other colours for that added spark. I don't reccommend this product if you are purchasing it to use it alone though.

Well I think this is all for today, I am sorry it turned out to be a negative review because I really had high hopes for this one. Better luck with the next glitter colour, hopefully!

Velvet Diamond Polish review :)

Hi Again, as promised I am back with my first review for 2014 :) I am going to talk about Velvet Diamond Nail Polish by Misslyn which I bought during the festive season and wore for New Year's Eve :)  

I was searching for some cool glitter polishes for new year but couldn't find anything suitable, so I settled for this polish as it contains dusts of glitter in it and is a sort of pinky shade. I matched it with a pink poloshirt, under a silver sleeveless tunic, pink leggings with black lacey tights and knee high boots :) I will recreate the outfit and take some photos as soon as I get some time :)   BTW, the reason for Britney on the left is below ;)

On to  the polish... This shade of dirty pink with lots of tiny glitters is really easy to apply and two coats are enough for perfect coverage. It also dries very quickly! I must say that the final color matches exactly the one in the bottle. As for durability, so far I have worn it for 3 days and there are no signs of chips ((except for the fact that I am loosing a nail as it is breaking :((( and the break line doesn't show!)  What I didn't like about this polish is the feeling it leaves when dry.  It gives the nails a sand-paper feeling to them which makes me touch my nails constantly.  I solved the problem with some topcoat :P  The glitters seem to be somewhere between silver and pink but are not exactly the same as what we are used to.These kind of shift there color all the way to a yellowish gold tone according to the light but the shift is really subtle that it is hard to notice.

Overall,  I love it's final look and the quick dry thing. I would definitely buy another shade if they had more of this kind even though I don't like the raspy feeling but that is toned down with some top coat :)

I award this polish my complete 5 Diamonds and if you have a store that stocks this particular one, don't hesitate to buy it because it is a good find :)  Here are some pictures (the lighting is a bit awful as the skies are grey here)

Here is my experience using this BB Cream :)

As already mentioned, this was my first time trying out a BB Cream. I am not very fond of make-up bases, concealers and foundations because I tend to actually feel them on my skin all day long and they make me too self conscious, besides I don't consider myself as in need of hiding my own skin.  Curiosity killed the cat and I decided to give this BB Cream a try. Here is what I noted about it:

The first thing that I was so worried about was the colour.  I was so relieved when it matched my skin tone!  The coverage was somewhere between very light to medium. It depends on how much I applied though. I was extra careful not to overdo it!  So far as application goes, it was quite easy. The sample has a tear at the top which tears up fast and all I had to do was run my fingers slowly along the sachet to get the product out in little bits. Blending the product with fingers is fairly easy, considering that I have no practice with this kind of thing.

Can you see the difference? Colour-wise not much as it blends in really well, but my skin looks more as one whole thing with this BB Cream.  

I wore it for 10 hours and notice that it held really well but I had to be careful not to touch my face as the first time I did that, some of the product actually transferred to my fingers and I was scared stiff about creating streaks in the whole appearance.  Thankfully, no streaks were created, but I did spend a whole day conscious on where I placed my hands! Its oil control was really good and I didn't get an shine after 10 hours! I don't consider my skin to be particularly oily but lately I was using a toner that was causing my skin to produce some oil (needless saying that I discontinued using it and am limiting its use to makeup removing before I use a better cleanser) As time went by, I noticed some pulling on my skin but I was not sure whether the BB Cream was actually drying me out or whether it was my super self-consciousness.  Either way, after around 5 hours of wear, I was getting the urge to stroke my cheeks, (Which I didn't for fear or damaging the makeup) and I sorted that out by patting my fingers along the pulling parts. Overall my face felt really smooth and didn't show any signs of my wearing the BB cream, (unless you looked up close and looked specifically for it) which is really good as I don't like the look that people get when their cosmetics are conspicuous on their faces (except those that are meant to be visible).

Overall Pros:

Good Colour tone that matched my skin

Coverage is light to medium and can be built up

Long Wear (10 hours is one long day!)

Good Oil Control (no need to blot, and no shine even after 10 hours)

Overall Cons:

Tends to pull on my Cheeks a bit after 5 - 6 hours wear

Transfer to fingers if you touch your face

I will consider purchasing the full product after I review some more samples that I have stashed away. So far I was very pleased with the result.  (I don't think I will be wearing a BB Cream for more than 8 hours though)

Rating:

3.5 - 4 Pink Diamonds

The reason why I am so undecided on the rating is the fact that I can actually feel it on my face if I think about it long enough. This may be due to my never using anything of the sort before because all overall face make-up tend to have that effect on me. (Day cream also gets a tad annoying at times) But the major turn-off about this BB Cream is the fact that it can transfer to fingers when touched and that gets me scared stiff of getting patchy make-up so I have to stay on the look out of where I put my hands. Other than that, it's a 4 star product!

 

I must admit that the second day using this BB Cream felt better, maybe because I was busy running around in Museums and my attention was so far away from my face :)  I wore it from 8 in the morning till midnight on the second day... A whole day of running around in the brisk Brussels air and a 3hr flight back home!  The picture above was taken on my second night at the hotel, after a full day of conference meetings.
